Based first in the game reserves of Zululand, now on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, she has undertaken research for the Council for Scientifie and Industrial Research, Natal Parks Board, Human Sciences Research Council and Natal University, including pioneering work on the use of plants by the people of Maputaland. She has worked closely with the National Botanical Institute, in particular the Natal Herbarium in the preparation of the Trust’s books.
