1 in stock
Published in Brussels in 1975, this scientific monograph forms Fascicule 24 of the second series of “Exploration du Parc National des Virunga.” The publication documents serpent species recorded during scientific research undertaken within Virunga National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and most historically significant protected areas.
The work focuses on several snake families including Typhlopidae, Leptotyphlopidae, Boidae, Colubridae, Elapidae, and Viperidae, and was authored by R. Roux-Estève and Gaston-François de Witte, two leading specialists in African herpetology.
Virunga National Park, formerly known as Parc National Albert, lies within the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and has long been a focal point for biological research into Central African biodiversity.
This publication forms part of the extensive expedition series issued by institutions responsible for scientific research in the region. These monographs were produced in relatively small print runs primarily for research institutions and specialists, and today are collected by those interested in African exploration literature, natural history research, and herpetology.
This copy is particularly desirable as it carries a presentation inscription by Gaston-François de Witte, reading “With the author’s best compliments.”
The volume comprises 119 pages and was issued without plates or maps, as published.
