Soldiers Three – Beautiful decorative Geneva edition of Rudyard Kipling’s classic Soldiers Three and companion stories, bound in burgundy leatherette with elaborate gilt decoration.
1 in stock
A handsome decorative edition of Soldiers Three by Rudyard Kipling, also containing The Story of the Gadsbys and In Black and White. Beautifully bound in deep burgundy-red leatherette with elaborate gilt decoration to both boards and spine, this edition was produced by Edito-Service S.A. of Geneva and published by arrangement with Macmillan & Co. Ltd.
Originally first published in 1888, Soldiers Three is one of Kipling’s most enduring collections of stories, centred on the adventures and conversations of the British soldiers Mulvaney, Ortheris and Learoyd in colonial India. Combining humour, military life and imperial adventure, Soldiers Three also includes the linked stories of The Story of the Gadsbys and the darker tales collected in In Black and White.
This attractive reprint edition was printed in France and bound in Switzerland, with striking decorative endpapers and an ornate gilt title page. Although the publisher’s name is not printed where it normally appears on the title page, the “FS” monogram and colophon identify it as an Edito-Service Geneva production issued by arrangement with Macmillan & Co. Ltd.
