Mrs. George de Horne Vaizey’s The Love Affairs of Pixie is the third and final novel in the popular Pixie O’Shaughnessy series, first published in 1914. This charming Edwardian girls’ novel follows the spirited and unconventional Pixie as she navigates adulthood, romance, family expectations and marriage. Vaizey was one of the most widely read writers of girls’ fiction in the early twentieth century, and The Love Affairs of Pixie remains sought after for both their nostalgic appeal and their striking illustrated bindings.
This early Religious Tract Society edition features the highly decorative blue pictorial cloth boards and spine, with period illustrations to both the front cover and spine. The Love Affairs of Pixie retains its attractive original appearance despite wear, making it an appealing copy for collectors of Edwardian juvenile fiction, girls’ school and romance novels, or decorative bindings. Published in London by The Religious Tract Society, probably in the 1910s–1920s, shortly after the novel’s original 1914 publication.
Condition – Good
Decorative cloth boards rubbed and worn, particularly at the edges and corners, with some loss to the surface design and wear to the spine ends. Ink gift inscription dated 26/2/1925 on the front endpaper. Endpapers browned and discoloured.
