Butterflies of Rhodesia by E. C. G. Pinhey (1949 Hardcover)

A scarce and desirable 1949 first edition of Butterflies of Rhodesia, written and illustrated by noted entomologist E. C. G. Pinhey. Published as No. 2 in the “Look Around You Series” by the Rhodesia Scientific Association, this charming volume provides an accessible introduction to the butterflies of Rhodesia together with a short introduction to the insect world.

Bound in the original bright red cloth boards with black lettering to the spine, this copy remains in near fine condition. Butterflies of Rhodesia is especially attractive for its beautifully reproduced colour plates based on the author’s own paintings, making it an appealing item both for collectors of African natural history and for those interested in Rhodesian history and entomology.

Published in Salisbury in April 1949, Butterflies of Rhodesia is an increasingly difficult title to find in such well-preserved condition. Ideal for collectors of Rhodesiana, butterfly books, African wildlife, and early scientific publications.

Condition – Near Fine
