The Climax Collection – A beautifully photographed and mischievously humorous South African coffee-table book on the “secret life” of Climax windmills, signed by Max and Sue Hoppe.
1 in stock
An unusual and highly entertaining South African coffee-table book, The Climax Collection: The Secret Life of Windmills by Max and Sue Hoppe celebrates one of the country’s most recognisable rural icons – the Climax windmill. Across 100 richly illustrated pages, the authors combine superb colour photographs of wind pumps found throughout South Africa with witty, tongue-in-cheek captions and playful double meanings.
Travelling through the Karoo, Eastern Cape and rural South Africa, the Hoppes photographed dozens of windmills and paired them with humorous observations that give these familiar structures an unexpectedly mischievous “secret life”. The result is a charming blend of Africana, rural nostalgia, South African humour and striking photography.
This signed copy of The Climax Collection is especially desirable, having been signed by the authors/compilers, Max and Sue Hoppe. It is ideal for collectors of Africana, South African photography, Karoo memorabilia, windmill enthusiasts and anyone looking for a quirky and memorable gift.
