A scarce and charming wartime South African children’s title, We’re Telling You was written by C. S. Stokes and published in Cape Town by Sanctuary Shillings in 1944. Featuring delightful illustrations of African wildlife throughout, the book was intended to encourage an appreciation of South Africa’s animals and natural heritage during the war years. This copy includes the original foreword by Mrs. J. C. Smuts, adding further historical interest and Africana appeal.
The illustrated hardcover boards retain their attractive original design with safari animals to the front cover. Internally the book remains complete and soundly bound, making We’re Telling You an appealing example of uncommon South African juvenile and wildlife literature from the 1940s. An excellent addition for collectors of Africana, South African children’s books, Kruger Park and wildlife material, or works connected with the Smuts family. The title was published by Sanctuary Shillings in Cape Town in 1944.

Front inner hinge exposed but still holding firmly. Soundly bound overall. Illustrated hardcover boards with light shelf wear and rubbing to edges. Most of the 56 pages show foxing throughout, heavier to the preliminaries and title page.
