Great Book of Tattoo Designs by acclaimed artist and pattern designer Lora S. Irish is an extensive visual reference containing more than 500 body-art designs. Created for tattoo enthusiasts, professional artists, illustrators, craftspeople and anyone searching for distinctive graphic inspiration, this substantial volume presents an impressive variety of styles and subject matter.
Great Book of Tattoo Designs moves through popular tattoo traditions and decorative themes, including fantasy, Celtic, floral, gothic, pagan, sacred, oriental and mythological imagery. Readers will discover designs ranging from dragons, fairies and symbolic creatures to ornamental borders, flowers, tribal-inspired patterns and bold decorative motifs. The artwork may be studied as complete tattoo concepts, combined to create personalised compositions or adapted as inspiration for original designs.
Great Book of Tattoo Designs approaches each image with an understanding of shape, balance, line and the way artwork may interact with the contours of the human body. Great Book of Tattoo Designs is therefore useful not only as a catalogue of tattoo possibilities but also as a practical reference for artists developing their own drawing and design skills. Its numerous black-and-white illustrations make individual lines, shading and decorative details easy to examine.
Condition – Fair
The covers are heavily shelf worn, rubbed and creased, with pronounced curling and lifting, particularly along the front fore-edge and corners. The book is bowed and shows considerable handling wear. The text-block edges are noticeably soiled and marked, with scattered spotting, grime and a red ink or paint mark along the lower edge. Several corners are bumped or curled. The black rectangular markings visible along the fore-edge appear to be printed sectional markers rather than later damage. The binding appears intact, and the book remains suitable as a working or reference copy.
