Communion with the Goddess: The Temples of Asia Minor and Greece – First Part by Lawrence Durdin-Robertson is a scarce 1977 publication forming part of The Manual of the Fellowship of Isis. Published by Cesara Publications at Huntington Castle, Clonegal, Ireland, this 48-page work belongs to the formative literature of the Fellowship of Isis and will be of particular interest to collectors of comparative religion, Goddess spirituality, mythology, paganism and modern esoteric movements.
The Fellowship of Isis was founded in Ireland in 1976 by Lawrence Durdin-Robertson, his sister Olivia Robertson and his wife Pamela Durdin-Robertson. Lawrence subsequently produced an extensive series of works under the collective title Communion with the Goddess, examining Goddess traditions, mythology, symbolism, sacred sites and religious practices across different cultures.
Communion with the Goddess focuses on the temples and Goddess traditions associated with Asia Minor and Greece, with its contents covering Asia Minor, Scythia and Thrace, Crete, Cyprus and Greece. It provides an intriguing exploration of ancient sacred sites and traditions connected with female deities and their worship.
Communion with the Goddess is particularly interesting as an early work associated directly with the Fellowship of Isis and its foundation centre at Huntington Castle. These original Cesara Publications booklets have become specialised collectables in their own right, particularly among collectors of modern esoterica, pagan and Goddess spirituality, alternative religious movements and occult literature.
Of particular collectible importance, this copy is signed by Lawrence Durdin-Robertson on the title page. Early Fellowship of Isis publications are relatively uncommon, particularly in South Africa, and the author’s signature adds considerably to the interest of this example.
