Gamebird Shooting in Southern Africa by Colin Vary, with photographs by Lionel Soule, is a large-format hardcover published in Johannesburg by Chris van Rensburg Publications. The first edition appeared in April 2001; this copy is the second impression of October 2001. It was edited by Heila van Rensburg, designed by The Office of Michael Barnett, Johannesburg, and printed and bound by NBD of Goodwood, Western Cape.
A second impression within six months of first publication shows the demand the book met among southern African shooters. Its large format and photographic content make Gamebird Shooting in Southern Africa as much a book to display as to read.
Gamebird Shooting in Southern Africa will appeal to gamebird and wingshooting enthusiasts, hunters and outdoorsmen, collectors of southern African sporting books, and anyone looking for a substantial gift for a shooting friend.
Condition – Very Good in a Good dust jacket
Large hardcover in the publisher’s green boards, retaining the original illustrated dust jacket. The jacket shows chipping and short tears at the head of the spine and along the upper edge, with rubbing and shelfwear to the edges and corners and some spotting on the inside of the jacket. The board corners are lightly bumped. The front free endpaper carries a warm handwritten gift inscription to a friend, dated 2006. The text block and page edges are clean and the binding is sound.
