Tarot – A New Handbook for the Apprentice by Eileen Connolly is Volume I of the Connolly Tarot series. This is the Original Classic Edition, illustrated with the Rider-Waite Tarot deck, published in paperback by New Page Books, a division of The Career Press, Inc., of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey (ISBN 0-87877-045-3). The text is copyright 1979 by Eileen Connolly, edited by Douglas Menville and Alyce Tulips, and printed in the U.S.A. by Book-mart Press.
Tarot – A New Handbook carries the motto Gnothi Seauton (Know Thyself), attributed to Thales, on its title page, which sets the tone for Connolly’s approach. The illustrations of the Rider-Waite cards are reproduced by permission of U.S. Games Systems, Inc., so readers can work through the interpretations with the most widely used Tarot deck in front of them.
As the copyright page notes, the interpretations presented in this volume were developed over many years of research, study and teaching by the author. Tarot – A New Handbook for the Apprentice is the first step in Connolly’s structured course, followed by the Handbook for the Journeyman and the First Handbook for the Master.
Tarot – A New Handbook will suit Tarot students and readers looking for a serious, methodical study guide, collectors of esoteric and divination books, and anyone building up the Connolly Tarot series volume by volume.
