ART AFRICA Magazine – Issue 06, December 2016, titled “What Really Matters?”, is a large-format softcover issue of the respected contemporary art magazine published by Bell-Roberts Publishing in Cape Town. Founded in 2002 as ARTsouthAFRICA and relaunched as ART AFRICA in 2015 with a broader international focus, the magazine covers contemporary art from Africa and the diaspora.
This issue includes an In Context section on Africans in America, coverage of the British Museum exhibition South Africa: The Art of a Nation, a feature on curator Ugochukwu-Smooth Nzewi titled Spaces of Familiarity, a look at the Paris art fair AKAA (Also Known As Africa), and a report on the Addis Foto Fest in Ethiopia.
