Boarding Party by James Leasor is a gripping account of one of the most remarkable and little-known covert operations of the Second World War. Subtitled “The Last Action of the Calcutta Light Horse”, the book tells the true story of the daring 1943 raid on German ships in neutral Goa, an operation that remained secret for decades and later inspired the film The Sea Wolves.
This first edition of Boarding Party was published in 1978 by William Heinemann Ltd and includes a foreword by Earl Mountbatten of Burma. An excellent addition for collectors of military history, naval history, World War II operations and books relating to British India and the Calcutta Light Horse. Boarding Party contains the original dust jacket and remains an attractive shelf copy despite the missing front free endpaper.
Condition – Very good
Hardcover in a very good dust jacket. The jacket is bright and clean with only light wear and minor rubbing to the lower spine area. The front free endpaper has been removed. Light foxing is present to the remaining front endpaper and there is a small pencil notation to the top corner. The book is otherwise internally clean, tightly bound and free of major defects.
