Fire in Stubble is a historical romance novel by Baroness Orczy, best known for The Scarlet Pimpernel. First published in 1912, this novel is set in 18th-century France and combines intrigue, romance and political tension in the dramatic style for which Orczy became famous. This copy forms part of the desirable Methuen’s Colonial Library series and retains its attractive original green cloth binding with gilt lettering and decorative spine panels.
An appealing early edition of Fire in Stubble for collectors of Baroness Orczy, Edwardian fiction and Methuen Colonial Library titles, the book includes the original colour frontispiece by Arthur H. Buckland. The period colonial issue and 1912 publication date make it especially attractive to collectors of early 20th-century British fiction and historical romance.
