Flytying Techniques: A Full Colour Guide begins with the fundamentals of organising a fly-tying workspace and understanding the equipment and materials used in the craft. It progresses through the construction of tails, bodies, hackles and wings, explaining how these elements combine to create different fly patterns.
Additional sections explore unusual techniques, innovative fly designs, applying lacquer, adding weight and other specialised methods. Flytying Techniques also includes fly dressings, offering practical information for anglers interested in creating their own fishing flies rather than relying exclusively on commercially manufactured patterns.
Jacqueline Wakeford’s accessible approach makes this an appealing reference for anyone interested in fly fishing, trout fishing, traditional angling methods or the craftsmanship involved in artificial fly construction.
With its extensive photographic illustrations and practical explanations, Flytying Techniques remains a useful vintage fishing reference for South African fly fishing enthusiasts, particularly those interested in tying their own trout flies.
