Gallipoli Memories by Compton Mackenzie is a compelling literary reflection on the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War, blending memoir and historical insight from a writer who served in British intelligence in the eastern Mediterranean during the conflict.
First published in November 1929 by Cassell and Company Ltd, this early printing captures Mackenzie’s thoughtful and personal perspective on one of the most significant campaigns of the First World War. His account provides readers with reflections on the personalities, atmosphere, and broader historical context of the Gallipoli campaign.
This copy is bound in a library binding with a leather spine extending approximately 1.5 cm onto the boards, with red cloth covering the remaining boards. The book originates from the Bloemfontein Public Library, retaining library stamps and circulation markings that reflect its institutional history.
Despite signs of handling and library use, the book remains firmly bound and complete, making it an appealing copy for collectors of First World War history, Gallipoli studies, and early twentieth-century military memoirs.
