Groot Volkomen Moolenboek – Of Naauwkeurig Ontwerp van Allerhande tot nog toe Bekende Soorten van Moolens is an important historical Dutch publication devoted to the design, construction and mechanical operation of windmills. Authored by Leendert van Natrus, Jacob Polly, Cornelis van Vuuren and Pieter Linperch, this substantial 1969 facsimile edition was published by P. N. van Kampen & Zoon in Amsterdam.
Originally produced during the 18th century, this celebrated work documents traditional Dutch windmill construction and engineering. The original publications date from the 1700s, with this facsimile reproducing historical technical material in a single substantial volume.
Groot Volkomen Moolenboek is particularly notable for its detailed technical engravings, including architectural plans, sectional drawings, mechanical arrangements and construction details of various types of windmills. These illustrations demonstrate the complexity and ingenuity of early Dutch engineering and provide valuable insight into the craftsmanship of traditional millwrights.
Groot Volkomen Moolenboek is particularly desirable to collectors of architectural history, historical engineering literature, Dutch industrial heritage and technical illustrations. Its detailed documentation of traditional windmill technology also makes it a valuable reference for researchers, historians and enthusiasts interested in historic machinery and European industrial development.
The volume retains additional historical interest through a handwritten Dutch inscription on the endpaper and a loose Dutch-language publisher’s promotional insert preserved within Groot Volkomen Moolenboek.
The 1969 facsimile offers collectors an opportunity to acquire a reproduction of this important 18th-century technical work without the considerable expense associated with original editions.
