Mrs Harris Goes to Moscow – A 1974 first edition of Paul Gallico’s charming Mrs Harris adventure set in Cold War Moscow.
1 in stock
Published by William Heinemann in London in 1974, Mrs Harris Goes to Moscow is the third novel in Paul Gallico’s beloved Mrs Harris series. In this delightful adventure, the indomitable London charwoman Ada Harris travels behind the Iron Curtain to Soviet Russia.
When Mrs Harris wins a trip to Moscow, her straightforward nature, kindness and sharp common sense soon begin to affect the lives of those she meets. As in the earlier Mrs Harris books, Gallico combines gentle humour, warmth and social observation, this time against the fascinating backdrop of Cold War-era Moscow.
This is the true first Heinemann edition of Mrs Harris Goes to Moscow published in 1974, complete with its striking black dust jacket featuring the bold red title and Mrs Harris’s British passport. The rear panel carries a photograph of Paul Gallico. Mrs Harris titles remain highly collectible, especially in early British editions.
Condition – Good
Good hardcover copy of Mrs Harris Goes to Moscow in a Good clipped dust jacket. The dust jacket is clipped and shows moderate rubbing and edge wear. The blue cloth boards have some damage and loss to the top edges, most noticeably along the rear board and top of the spine. The gilt spine lettering remains clear. Foxing is present to the text block edges and scattered through the preliminaries and some pages, but the binding is firm and the book remains perfectly readable.
