Nishikigoi and Ponds – Zen Nippon Airinkai Anniversary Set (1979–1990) – 3 Volume Slipcased Koi Collector’s Edition
A striking three-volume commemorative set of Nishikigoi and Ponds, published by the prestigious Zen Nippon Airinkai, Japan’s leading koi association. Issued to celebrate the 15th, 20th, and 25th anniversaries of the organisation, these large-format volumes present an exceptional photographic and historical record of Japan’s finest ornamental koi.
Lavishly illustrated throughout with high-quality colour photography, Nishikigoi and Ponds showcase champion koi varieties, breeding lines, and traditional Japanese koi pond design. The publications are highly regarded among koi breeders and enthusiasts worldwide and remain important reference works documenting the development of modern Nishikigoi breeding in Japan.
Each volume is bound in coloured cloth and housed in its original slipcase. Sets of all three anniversary volumes are increasingly difficult to find, particularly outside Japan.
Nishikigoi and Ponds is a desirable collector’s set for koi enthusiasts, Japanese garden lovers, and collectors of specialised Japanese photographic books.
Condition – Very Good set (Vol.1 & 3 Very Good, Vol.2 Good with page adhesion damage)
Complete three-volume set in the original publisher slipcases. Large-format cloth-bound volumes with gilt titling to the spines. Volumes 1 and 3 remain in very well-preserved condition with clean, bright pages and tight bindings.
Volume 2 shows areas where glossy coated pages have adhered to one another and later separated, resulting in patches of surface paper loss and disturbance along some page margins. The affected areas are mostly confined to the edges of the pages and do not materially obscure the main photographic plates or text.
The slipcases show light shelf wear consistent with age and handling. Overall, a presentable and complete collector’s set of these desirable Zen Nippon Airinkai koi publications.
