South African Vintage Toys – Model Cars – A Collector’s Guide by Machiel Odendaal

A scarce and highly collectible reference work for enthusiasts of South African vintage toys and diecast model cars. South African Vintage Toys – Model Cars: A Collector’s Guide by Machiel Odendaal is the first major South African publication devoted specifically to locally produced and distributed toy and model cars.

Published in 2023, this richly illustrated collector’s guide documents rare South African toy manufacturers, brands, packaging and model variations, including names such as Elvinco, Titan Toys, Prima Toys, Tru-Toy and other little-known local makers. The book is an invaluable resource for collectors, dealers and historians trying to identify unusual South African-made model cars and toy vehicles.

With 226 pages of colour photographs and detailed information, this title fills an important gap in South African collecting literature. South African Vintage Toys – Model Cars: A Collector’s Guide is a particularly desirable book for collectors of South African toys, vintage diecast cars, Jabulani Toys, Regal Trading models, Dinky Toys, Matchbox, Corgi and other locally distributed toy lines. Increasingly sought after due to its specialist subject matter and limited audience.
