Compiled by legendary South African rugby figure D. H. Craven and issued by the South African Rugby Board as part of its Jubilee celebrations, this substantial 636-page volume is one of the classic reference works on Springbok rugby history. Covering every international rugby tour to and from South Africa between 1891 and 1964, the book includes match records, touring sides, results, statistics and historical commentary in both English and Afrikaans.
An essential title for collectors of South African rugby memorabilia, sports history and Springbok reference works, this scarce Johannesburg-published edition remains highly sought after both locally and internationally. The book was published by Mimosa Publishers (Pty.) Ltd., Johannesburg, in 1964.
Condition – Good
Faded green cloth boards with bright gilt lettering to the front board and spine. The spine is noticeably faded but the gilt remains strong and attractive. There is a 4 cm tear to the cloth at the top of the front hinge, along with light rubbing and wear to the extremities. Internally the book is clean and tightly bound, with only some discoloration to the front and rear endpapers. A solid, presentable copy of an increasingly difficult South African rugby reference title.
