Lady Troubridge’s classic guide to British social manners and upper-class etiquette: The Book of Etiquette first published in 1926 and here in the 1936 reprint. Covering every aspect of social conduct, including introductions, correspondence, entertaining, weddings, dress, travel and formal occasions, this was one of the standard references on English etiquette between the wars.
Written from the perspective of British high society, The Book of Etiquette offers a fascinating glimpse into the customs and expectations of the 1920s and 1930s. Today it appeals not only to collectors of etiquette and social history, but also to readers interested in British culture, Edwardian and interwar society, and vintage lifestyle books. The work later gained renewed attention as a reference source for recreating period manners and behavior.
Condition – Very Good
No dust jacket. Original blue cloth boards remain sound and clean overall, with fading to the spine and light wear to the extremities. Internally good with scattered foxing throughout and pages lightly toned with age. A solid and presentable copy of this 1936 hardcover edition.
