The Book of Hiram: Freemasonry, Venus and the Secret Key to the Life of Jesus by Christopher Knight & Robert Lomas explores the origins of Freemasonry and its possible links to ancient Egypt, King Solomon’s Temple, early Christianity, and astronomical symbolism. Building on themes introduced in The Hiram Key, the authors examine the legendary figure of Hiram Abiff and investigate how Masonic traditions may preserve fragments of ancient religious knowledge and sacred geometry.
Drawing on archaeology, comparative religion, biblical history, mythology and astronomy, Knight and Lomas present a provocative interpretation of historical events and symbolic traditions. They argue that the story of Hiram contains encoded wisdom relating to the planet Venus, ancient initiation rites and the historical life of Jesus. While many of the conclusions are controversial and speculative, The Book of Hiram has become a popular title among readers interested in Freemasonry, esoteric history, secret societies and alternative interpretations of religious origins.
Published by Century in 2003, this substantial hardcover edition is well produced and remains sought after by collectors of Masonic literature and readers of historical mysteries. Whether you are a Freemason, a student of comparative religion, or simply fascinated by hidden symbolism and ancient traditions, The Book of Hiram offers an engaging and thought-provoking read that challenges conventional historical narratives.
