The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail – Illustrated Edition by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh & Henry Lincoln

The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln is one of the most talked-about works of alternative history ever published. First issued in the United Kingdom in 1982 by Jonathan Cape, it is presented here in the illustrated edition with exclusive new material, published by Century, an imprint of The Random House Group, in London in 2005. This copy carries the full number line, and was printed and bound in Germany by Appl Druck, Wemding.

The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail combines the full text, including the authors’ introduction and postscript, with a wealth of colour photographs, manuscripts, maps and illustrations. Images of Rosslyn Chapel, religious art and rare documents bring the investigation to life on the page, in a handsome design by Dave Crook.

The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail follows the authors’ investigation into the mystery of Rennes-le-Château in southern France, the Cathars, the Knights Templar and the shadowy Priory of Sion. Their theories about the Grail and the Merovingian bloodline caused a storm on publication and later inspired Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, returning the book to bestseller lists around the world.

Condition – Near Fine

Hardcover in the original dust jacket. A previous owner has protected the book with a self-adhesive plastic cover, which has fixed the dust jacket to the boards. The jacket shows light scuffing, a small nick at the head of the spine and a small mark to the rear panel. The interior is clean and bright, and the binding is tight. A very good-looking copy of The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail.
