The Last Voyage of the Lusitania by A. A. Hoehling and Mary Hoehling is a gripping reconstruction of one of the defining maritime disasters of the twentieth century. First published in the United States in 1956, this Longmans, Green and Co. 1957 British edition examines the final voyage of the RMS Lusitania, torpedoed off the Irish coast in 1915 during the First World War.
Drawing on survivor accounts, naval records and contemporary reports, the Hoehlings recreate the tension aboard the famous liner in the hours before disaster struck. The Last Voyage of the Lusitania remains an important and highly readable work of maritime and First World War history, appealing to collectors of naval history, Titanic and Lusitania material, Cunard memorabilia and twentieth-century non-fiction.
This copy is the 1957 Longmans, Green and Co. hardcover edition with its original illustrated dust jacket showing the Lusitania in the sights of a U-boat periscope. An attractive early edition for collectors of maritime history.
Condition – Very Good
Original dust jacket present but with rubbing, edge wear, small chips and some loss to the spine ends and corners. Blue cloth boards remain sound. Internally the pages are foxed and discoloured throughout, particularly to the preliminaries and outer margins, but the text remains clear and fully legible.
