The NIV Matthew Henry Commentary – In One Volume presents the commentary of Matthew Henry (1662–1714) in a single volume keyed to the New International Version. The copyright page records copyright 1992 by HarperCollins Publishers Ltd, with the work originally published in the UK by Marshall Pickering, an imprint of HarperCollins Religious. This copy was published by Zondervan Publishing House of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and printed in the United States of America. The number line runs down to 1, making it a first printing.
The title page notes that this edition is based on the Broad Oak Edition. Scripture quotations are from the New International Version (Anglicized Edition), and The NIV Matthew Henry Commentary is printed on acid-free paper meeting the American National Standards Institute Z39.48 standard. The preface explains that the commentary was revised for the NIV so that Henry’s original meaning is kept while his older wording is made clearer for modern readers.
Bringing Henry’s whole-Bible commentary together in one substantial volume alongside the NIV text makes The NIV Matthew Henry Commentary a practical desk reference for everyday study, without the shelf space of a multi-volume set.
The NIV Matthew Henry Commentary will suit preachers and lay preachers, Bible study leaders, theology students and anyone wanting a whole-Bible commentary on one shelf.
