Vengeance: The True Story of an Israeli Counter-terrorist Mission by George Jonas is a compelling and highly controversial work of investigative narrative nonfiction that explores the covert Israeli operations launched in the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre. First published in 1984 by Collins, this hardcover edition captures one of the most discussed intelligence and counter-terrorism stories of the modern era.
George Jonas presents the account of an Israeli operative involved in clandestine missions targeting individuals allegedly connected to the Black September organization following the murder of Israeli athletes during the Munich Games. Written in a tense, fast-paced style that reads almost like a spy thriller, the book blends espionage, political intrigue, moral ambiguity, and historical events into a gripping narrative that has remained influential for decades. Vengeance later inspired renewed global interest through film adaptations and ongoing debates surrounding intelligence ethics, covert warfare, and counter-terrorism policy.
This 1984 Collins hardcover edition features the striking original dust jacket design and red cloth boards with gilt lettering to the spine. A desirable early printing of Vengeance for collectors of military history, intelligence studies, Middle Eastern history, espionage literature, and true-crime nonfiction. The book also appeals strongly to readers interested in Mossad operations, Cold War-era geopolitical conflict, and historical accounts of international terrorism.
Vengeance is an increasingly collectible title due to its historical significance and enduring relevance, particularly among collectors of intelligence and espionage literature.
