Waddington’s “Cir-Q-Lar” Playing Cards – Reg. No. 741-945 (c.1929)

A rare and highly collectible deck of vintage circular playing cards produced by John Waddington Ltd of Leeds, England. Registered under No. 741-945, this distinctive deck—marketed as “Cir-Q-Lar”—was first introduced around 1929 and is celebrated for its unusual format and elegant Art Deco styling.

Unlike traditional rectangular decks, each card is circular (approximately 75 mm diameter), with classic playing card designs cleverly adapted to the round format. This innovative design makes the deck both visually striking and highly collectible, appealing to enthusiasts of vintage games, design history, and unusual ephemera.

The original packaging and registration details further enhance its desirability, placing it firmly within the golden age of British playing card manufacture. Today, Cir-Q-Lar decks are sought after as conversation pieces and display items, as well as functional playing cards with a unique twist.
