The spines carry matching gilt stamped decorative panels containing the title and the same series text, with the publisher’s imprint “JOHN C. NIMMO – LONDON” at the foot.
The books form an attractive and uniform decorative grouping and represent a substantial portion of this classic Victorian collected edition.
Condition – Very Good
Very good antique condition overall. The volumes remain in their original green cloth bindings with gilt decorative panels, which are still clean and attractive. There is minor shelf wear to the boards with slight bumping and rubbing to some corners and light wear to the spine heads and tails. The tops of the text blocks show dust staining and the deckled edges all round display some natural age-related discoloration. Internally the books retain their original dark plum / maroon endpapers with minor hinge wear in places. Some volumes contain previous ownership inscriptions in ink. Pages show typical age toning with occasional foxing, but the books remain sound, complete, and very presentable as a decorative Victorian set.
