The Winds of Havoc: A Memoir of Adventure and Destruction in Deepest Africa tells the extraordinary and often harrowing story of Adelino Serras Pires, a legendary professional hunter whose life unfolded across the wild landscapes of Mozambique and southern Africa during one of the continent’s most turbulent periods.
Written with renowned hunting author Fiona Claire Capstick, the book recounts Pires’ dramatic experiences during the Mozambican civil war, where the wilderness became both refuge and battleground. The Winds of Havoc blends thrilling hunting accounts with deeply personal memories of survival, loyalty, and the chaos that engulfed Africa during the late twentieth century.
This copy is warmly inscribed and signed by Adelino Serras Pires, dated Las Vegas, January 2001, adding a personal historical connection to the remarkable life story contained within its pages. Signed copies of The Winds of Havoc are increasingly sought after by collectors of African hunting literature and modern Africana.
Richly detailed and emotionally compelling, The Winds of Havoc stands among the notable modern memoirs of African professional hunters and offers rare insight into the intersection of wildlife, war, and survival in Mozambique.
A collectible volume for readers of African adventure, big-game hunting history, and modern Africana.
