Large African Tribal Male Figure – Hand-Carved Hardwood Sculpture (54.5cm) Ethnographic Carving

An impressive large African tribal sculpture depicting a standing male figure, expertly carved from a single piece of hardwood. Measuring an impressive 54.5 cm in height, this substantial carving displays the bold, stylised forms and symbolic features associated with traditional African tribal art. The large African tribal sculpture is portrayed with elongated proportions, a prominent beard and a decorative carved headband. The rear of the head features an intricately carved hairstyle extending down the back, adding depth and visual interest to the sculpture. Both hands rest against the sides of the figure’s pronounced abdomen, creating a powerful and balanced composition. There is damage to the top of the carved hairstyle at the rear of the head, together with light wear, small age-related marks and minor losses around the edges of the circular base. The carving remains solid, stable and displays exceptionally well.
