A beautifully illustrated early twentieth-century study of Teutonic and Germanic mythology by noted folklorist Donald A. Mackenzie. Teutonic Myth & Legend explores the legendary traditions of Northern Europe, drawing on early sources including the Eddas, the sagas, Beowulf, and the Nibelungenlied.
In Teutonic Myth & Legend, Mackenzie examines the myths, heroic legends, and belief systems of the ancient Germanic peoples, presenting the stories of Odin, Thor, Loki, the Valkyries, and other figures of Norse tradition within their wider historical and cultural context.
Teutonic Myth & Legend contains a number of striking colour plates and illustrations, bringing scenes from the heroic age of Norse mythology vividly to life.
Bound in the publisher’s attractive decorative gilt cloth, richly designed with stylised mythological motifs and Art Nouveau-influenced ornamentation, Teutonic Myth & Legend forms part of the Gresham mythological series published by The Gresham Publishing Company.
