Drawing upon Eric Quayle’s considerable experience as a bibliophile and collector, The Collector’s Book of Children’s Books explores an impressive variety of material, including early juvenile books, eighteenth-century publications, fairy and folk tales, fantasy, natural history and travel books, poetry and nursery rhymes, adventure stories, annuals, periodicals, penny dreadfuls, toy books and movable books. Particular attention is given to the physical and artistic qualities that make early children’s books so fascinating to collectors.
