Women of the Bible by The Marquess and Marchioness of Aberdeen and Temair is a charming and thoughtfully produced religious work that examines some of the most influential female figures found throughout scripture. Published by Lutterworth Press in London and illustrated by celebrated artist Harold Copping, this 1954 edition combines devotional writing with attractive period artwork, resulting in a volume that remains highly collectable among enthusiasts of vintage Christian literature and illustrated theological works.
Women of the Bible explores the personalities, faith, struggles, and spiritual importance of women from both the Old and New Testaments, presenting their stories in an accessible and reflective style suited to both personal reading and group study. Harold Copping’s illustrations add significant visual appeal and historical character to the book, capturing biblical scenes in the romantic and richly detailed style for which he became well known in religious publishing during the early twentieth century.
This particular copy of Women of the Bible also carries a Methodist Sunday School prize label dated December 1954, adding a layer of provenance and social history that collectors of ecclesiastical and educational memorabilia may appreciate. Such prize presentations were once treasured keepsakes within church communities and often provide fascinating insight into local religious history and traditions.
An appealing vintage Christian title ideal for collectors of religious books, church history, biblical studies, illustrated theology, or Harold Copping material. Women of the Bible would display attractively alongside other devotional and mid-century religious works despite the damaged dust jacket.
