Africana is books about Africa, and southern Africa in particular: its history, exploration, wildlife, peoples and politics. It is the heart of what we do, and one of the richest fields in book collecting, with a following that reaches far beyond the continent. Our Africana runs from colonial and pre-colonial history to natural history, hunting and exploration, biography and politics, and it includes the closely related niche of Rhodesiana. You will find affordable reading copies alongside scarce first editions and signed works. Value comes down to rarity, condition, edition and demand, and South African material in particular carries real weight with international collectors. We are based at The Old Mushroom Farm in Howick, KZN, ship Africana worldwide, and list new stock regularly. To understand what makes a book collectible in the first place, read our guide on how to know if your old book is valuable.
